To choose between circular saws: The subsequent criteria needed for choosing a circular saw is the diameter of the blade to determine the depth of cut. The more popular diameters tend to be 190mm & 235mm. This 235mm diameter blade is a particularly populare blade size for circular saws. Click here to see all our circular saws

I did a lot of research into sub-£300 10" mitre saws and have had Metabo tools in the past. I've found their products are very well designed and made - if a little expensive. However this Metabo KGS254M is not overpriced yet still has the superb build quality that I hoped. Arrives fully made up and unbelievably, dead accurate straight out of the box - impressive quality control. I'm left-handed and have no problem operating the saw safely. The led light work light and laser guide (mains powered - no batteries needed) are excellent and the bearings are smooth with no judder or flexing at all in use... a major improvement over my previous Scheppach saw. Easily fits on an Evolution mitre saw stand. The adjustable platen is positive and accurate both left and right. I have the saw hooked up to a dust extractor and there is very little dust escape in use. Don't worry about the plastic parts - they are extremely heavy duty and solid, they'll obviously take a lot of stick. Lastly, it really does cut a full 90mm depth - perfect for fence posts.
