The online power tool trade counter:

These SDS Plus Hammers are designed to drill into concrete, stone and brickwork. They have a hammer function, which makes drilling into these materials easier.

An SDS Plus fitting is used on this hammer, which is smaller than an SDS Max fitting and means that SDS Plus Hammers are designed for lighter work.

One of the benefits of the SDS system is that the drill bits can be changed by hand and do not require a chuck key. SDS Plus and SDS Max drill bits are not interchangeable.

  • There are two considerations when choosing between hammers. Firstly; whether you require the two standard functions of a rotary action (ie drilling) & a rotary hammer action or the 3 functions of drilling, rotary hammer action & hammer only action. Secondly, whether you require the smaller SDS plus shank size drill bit or the larger SDS max shank size. These tools use smaller SDS plus shank size drill /chisel bits and have 2 functions; drill & rotary hammer.
