The 10mm keyed chuck percussion drill is a drill that can accept drill bits up to 10mm in size. 10mm keyed chuck models are a medium sized drill. For those who need a larger drill, we also supply 13mm percussion drills. This is a keyed chuck drill, and this means that a chuck key will be required to tighten the drill bit in the drill chuck.
These drills are suitable for drilling a wide range of materials such as wood, metal and plastic. Because percussion drills also feature a hammer action they can be used to drill concrete and brick. It should be noted that all percussion drills are mains powered. They do not support SDS drill bits.
- The key consideration when choosing a percussion drill is the maximum drilling diameter required. 10mm refers to maximum drilling diameter in concrete & brick. You can use a larger drill bit for metal, plastic & wood (& some machines allow this in concrete & brick too) providing it has a 10mm or smaller diameter shank to fit the chuck. The drill bit is tightened into the chuck using a key supplied.
- There is often a choice between single or 2 speed gears. Most percussion drills have a variable speed function.
