A slide compound mitre saw is quite similar to the standard mitre saw, but has one key difference. Along with being able to make cross and angle (mitre) cuts, they are also capable of making bevel cuts. The combination of a mitre cut and a bevel cut creates a compound cut, which can be used in situations such as framing a roof. These saws also run on rails, which allows the saw to run through the wood at a bevelled angle.
