Demolition hammer - SDS max

We supply a range of demolition hammers that use the SDS Max chuck mechanism. This chuck type has been designed to simplify changing drill bits in the machine, enabling them to be changed by hand quickly and easily. 

These SDS Max demolition hammers are ideal for lighter demolition work when compared to A/F hex shank demolition hammers because they tend to be smaller in size. This can help to combat user fatigue, which may arise when larger, more powerful, demolition hammers are used.

• The key consideration when choosing a demolition hammer is the shank size of the chisel or point bit. SDS max size is the latest technology but, in terms of shank size, is the entry level for demolition hammers. The A/F shank size bits are larger for heavier duty work. The SDS system was originally invented in 1975 by Bosch and translates as 'insert, twist, fits'. The slots on SDS bits enable the back-and-forth hammer blow action whilst still rotating. The drill bit is locked but at the same time can rotate. This system transfers the energy that the hammer builds up internally through to the tip of the drill bit without damaging the chuck.
